Scholarships

The Academic Scholarship at the University of Southern Mindanao is classified into (1) University Scholarship, (2) College Scholarship, (3) Full Entrance Scholarship, and (4) Half Entrance Scholarship.

1. University Scholarship is awarded to students who obtain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 1.0 – 1.50. This scholarship category carries the privilege of exemption from the payment of tuition fee.
2. College Scholarship is awarded to students who obtain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 1.51 – 1.75. This scholarship category carries the exemption from the payment of one–half of tuition fee. Candidates for the University and College Scholarship shall have obtained their final grades in not less than 15 academic units, unless a lesser number of units is prescribed in the curriculum in any given semester. 
3. Full Entrance Scholarship is awarded to students who graduated “Valedictorian” in a class of at least thirty students from high schools duly recognized by the government, and USM High School graduates who obtain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 90% or better.
4. Half Entrance Scholarship is awarded to students who graduated “ Salutatorian” in a class of at least thirty students from high schools duly recognized by the government, and USM High School graduates who obtain a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 87.5% -89.9%.

Enrollment Privileges:

a.Grant-in-aide. A special Grant-in-Aide offered by the University of Southern Mindanao to college students (per year) who belong to the cultural communities with high scholastic standing. They are exempted from the payment of tuition fee.

b.Special Privileges. The following are granted special enrollment privileges:

1. Members of the USM Band/ Combo/ Dance Troupe/ BP 337 are exempted from the payment of tuition fee.
2. Department children of USM Personnel with permanent status are exempted from the payment of tuition fee.
3. Athletes who have participated in at least the MSCUAA Meet or its equivalent are exempted from payment of tuition fee.
4. Legitimate children of faculty members and employees who died while in the service of the University are exempted of tuition fee.

Students enjoying scholarship and other privileges such a grant in-aide. USM dependents, etc. are not exempted from payment of school fees on subjects enrolled during summer.
